Instagram Stories surpassed Snapchat in terms of daily active users. “Over 200 million people now use Instagram Stories every day,” the Facebook-owned brand said Thursday. This means that one Instagram user out of three has adopted the Snapchat clone.

Snapchat last reported 161 million daily active users in February. The launch of Instagram Stories in August coincided with a decline in daily active user growth at Snapchat. Instagram Stories hit 100 million dailies in October, and 150 million in January.

“Instagram is getting faster at copying even Snapchat’s most technologically advanced features with a series of global iOS and Android updates”, TechCrunch commented.

The Facebook’s brand announced on Thursday a new Pinning feature. It is the clone of the augmented reality stickers and text tool that Snapchat introduced one year ago. The stickers are pinned to objects in videos and grow or shrink as they move around.

Closing in on Snapchat

Investors start to worry about Snapchat since Instagram is closing in on its competitor. Logically, Snap shares fell more than 1% on Thursday.
